Words of Wisdom with Kasia Stanichich
Hi everyone, welcome back to another blog post!
I was reading Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferris and was inspired to start my own little series on the blog - Words of Wisdom.
If you haven’t read Tribe of Mentors, Tim Ferris questions some of the worlds most successful athletes, business woman/men, authors, entrepreneurs and investors about achieving extraordinary results and transforming their lives.
I thought I would do something similar (in the sense of asking the same questions he asked, but changing the game a little in the way of who I ask these questions too such as - the people who inspire me, artists, bloggers, local people, brand owners and other creatives.)
This is where Kasia from @kasiaastanicich comes in, Kas runs a successful blog kasiastanicich.com, is a fantastic makeup artist, and does content creation for brands, all at the wee age of 21! Talk about hardworking!
I thought I would ask Kas the questions that Tim Ferris asked his “Mentors” so she could share her nuggets of wisdom and we could get to know her a little better and this is what happened..
What is the book (or books) you've given most as a gift, and why?
'The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k' by Sarah Knight. I think it's pretty self-explanatory and a lot of my friends are like me and need to care a f**k tonne less what people think.
What purchase of $100 or less has most positively impacted your life in the last 6 months (or in recent memory).
OH MY GOODNESS- I bought this $6 ball thingy from Kmart. It's a spiky massage ball and I just sort of roll around on the floor and it gets into all the nooks and crannies and releases tension in my muscles. In my back/neck in particular, it has been hugely helpful.
If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it- metaphorically speaking getting a message out to millions or billions what would it say and why?
"Pressure makes diamonds."
What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love.
I can't fall asleep without watching a YouTube video. I start something that's the perfect balance of interesting/mundane (think beauty declutters) and watch about 0.0005% of it before I fall asleep. But without that I just cannot get my brain to chill.
In the last 5 years, what new belief, behaviour or habit has most improved your life
Knowing that I don't have to have it all figured out before I start.
What are bad recommendations you hear in your profession or area of expertise.
It's not necessarily a bad recommendation, but the next person who promotes that SPF is the sole cause of flashback should be accountable for all medical bills caused by melanoma. (WEAR SUNSCREEN).
When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost focus temporarily, what do you do?
I step back or move out of my surroundings. I have a full-on job (not in terms of what I do, just how often I'm 'at work'). So I take the time to either head away for the night or remove all sources of 'work' until I am feeling re-inspired again.
I hope this has been interesting to read, and you got to know the lovely Kas a little bit better.
If there is anyone you would like to see on the blog in the ‘Words of Wisdom with..” series, let me know down below, I am always up for learning about new creative, inspiring people.
